Details for The Smokie Blues Concert for Haiti
The lineup (not in this order) will feature the following:
WANG DANG DELTA [BAND] FIFE. Wang Dang Delta are a 6-piece band from Perthshire in Scotland who specialise in blues and beyond music. The band serve up a set featuring mainly original compositions with some classic blues and boogie thrown in for good measure. http://www.myspace.com/wangdangdelta
THE FORTUNATE SONS [BAND] GLASGOW. Hailing from the southern suburbs of Glasgow, The Fortunate Sons have concieved a rich sound knee-deep in the blues, tinged with impressive harmonies. Hailing from the southern suburbs of Glasgow, The Fortunate Sons have been in their current line up for little over a year. THE LITTLE WOLVES [BAND] LOCAL. With over 20 years on the road, Tayside’s Little Wolves are one of Scotland’s most unusual but enduring grass-roots bands. Drawing from a deep and varied well of experience, the Wolves have moved a long way from the blues/R&B roots on which they built their reputation. THE LONELY SOULS [BAND] GLASGOW. Echoing the spirit of The Faces, The Band and The Rolling Stones the Lonely Souls play a heady brew of home-grown Rock, Blues, Soul and Americana. WILLIE LOGAN [ACOUSTIC] EDINBURGH. Edinburgh born Willie Logan, started playing the piano at the age of three and by the time he went to school he was able to play, by ear, well enough to accompany the class at singing. Willie has worked with artists such as Keith Marshall (ex Hello) and John Payne (who later joined Asia) with whom he recorded under pseudonyms Quadrascope & Jupiter Red. Willie now has several albums under his belt, which feature timeless blues classics by the likes of Hendrix, Clapton and SRV with his original songs. http://www.myspace.com/willielogan
STUART COLQUHOUN [ACOUSTIC] PAISLEY. SIMON CURRIE [Acoustic] DUNDEE – It was as a young teenager in Dundee that Simon first came across a steel guitar which was gracing the cover of the Dire Straits album ‘Brother in Arms’. Subsequently his fascination with the sound of this instrument lead him on a journey of musical discovery which took him back to the blues masters of Son House, Robert Johnson & Lightnin’ Hopkins. DICK WARDELL [ACOUSTIC] LAURENCEKIRK Also known as Kid Ledraw, Wardell has been playing blues for fifty years, playing with artists such as Long John Baldry, The Hoochie Coochie Men and Jo-Ann Kelly. WOLFTRAIN [BAND] PERTHSHIRE Wolftrain is a legendary six piece band from Tayside with a mixture of long hard experience and bright new talent. Their style ranges from authentic blues, rock and roll, swing to original material, but it`s their horns that give them their distinct and unique sound.
